Porsche – Glare Reduction External Window Film

2020-05-11T17:11:12+00:00

This Porsche centre had a problem with glare from the sun in reception. Due to the glazing configuration of a laminated inner pane of the double glazed unit, an external grade window film solution was required to avoid the risk of thermal fracture. The existing windows were already black tinted glass and it was imperative that the film specification was in keeping with the corporate aesthetic. Our WFGP Dark Charcoal 05 EXT was installed from mobile access towers to solve the glare problem and match the existing glazing perfectly.

The main reception at Triumph Motorcycles Head Office in Hinckley, Leicestershire is an impressive angled atrium in black tinted double glazing fitting their iconic name following 110 years of manufacturing in Britain. During winter months though, the low level sun was causing a glare problem for the reception staff even through the already tinted glass. WF Glazing Protection were approached to help to solve the problem. Due to access issues internally combined with the laminated inner pane glazing configuration it was deemed that an external application of solar control window film was the most appropriate solution. The specification was going to be crucial as it not only had to offer the correct level of glare reduction but it was critical that the appearance complimented the existing aesthetic. Following a successful trial, TG8-XSR dark charcoal non-metallic solar control film with 87% glare reduction and a five year external warranty was chosen. The project was successfully installed from mobile access towers by PASMA certified operatives to 50sqm of glass over 27no high level panes in the mid-section of the atrium. Paul Walklate who is the Indirect Buyer for Triumph Motorcycles said....... Our receptionists were experiencing problems with the light of the sunrise during the winter months; they found wearing sun glasses improved conditions but they were conscious of their appearance when greeting visitors so requested we develop a new solution to the problem. We considered many different ways to approach this such as window blinds and sun screens but the angle of the atrium made it difficult to source a simple cost effective solution so the focus turned towards sourcing a window film. After searching the internet to identify local services, we arranged for a number [...]

2020-05-11T17:08:40+00:00

The reception atrium at BioCity in Nottingham had a problem with the sun's glare making it uncomfortable for staff behind the desk. This was solved by carefully specifying a solar control window film with enough performance to improve the situation whilst blending in with the existing glazing. 3M CS35 colour-stable non-metallic window film was chosen for its natural appearance but with 57% glare reduction it has been a great success. The blue and yellow translucent feature vinyl was also installed by ourselves during the original building construction.

The brand new, award winning premises in the heart of Nottingham required a privacy solution to the windows of the tenants' swimming pool. The architects at Lace Market Properties stipulated that the effect must be graduated to keep the perception of clarity from inside of the pool. Working together to meet their requirements WF Glazing Protection specified and sourced Fasara Illumina Decorative Window Film from 3M Japan. A graduating film from white frost to clear that has an anti-bacterial coating to resist finger marks and a 5 year warranty against peeling. The project was completed on time with minimum disruption on behalf of main contractor Laing O'Rourke.

The main facade of the new Students Union building at the University of Lincoln faces south. As such, during summer months, the building would suffer from overheating. This was making the working environment very uncomfortable for staff and the existing blinds were not helping.Air-conditioning was not an option due to increased energy consumption so the Estates Department turned to WF Glazing Protection for help.Working together with the University, we were given the task of reducing solar build-up whilst maintaining the external aesthetics originally designed by their architects. After initial trials, 3M Night Vision 25 was specified for the 300sqm installation. This specialist solar control film offers very low reflectance when compared to standard films but still provides excellent performance with 66% solar energy rejection. The project was completed direct with the University within their timescale of the summer student break.

St Andrews Healthcare, Northampton

The hospital had recently purchased adjoining land that was an old school site and decided to utilise the school building for their expanding training and office requirements. The property was of the traditional 1970's construction with single glazed metal windows and a large south facing facade. Secondary glazing had been installed along with blinds. However, during summer months, the glare and solar gain were unbearable causing employee's severe discomfort. Simply installing air conditioning was not the answer and a method for controlling the glare and solar gain was sought. Some areas already had a solar control window film but it was very degraded and needed replacing. "We chose to use WF Glazing Protection Ltd to do this as we felt that their service, knowledge, specification and price offered the best value for money. The work was completed on time, within budget and our staff are extremely pleased with the results. The offices are much cooler and more comfortable and we are hoping to see energy cost savings with the reduction in our requirement for temporary air-conditioning."
